10-metre pistol competitions

The 6 card 10-metre pistol competition is our internal pistol competition and consist of twelve monthly rounds of 30 shots – 5 per card. The best 10 monthly results are counted towards the final score for the year and there are trophies for the top 3 competitors, with a plaque on our competition results board for the winner of each year.

This competition runs to a monthly deadline and competitors can shoot their cards during a session of their choosing, provided there is another shooter in the range who signs off their cards as witness.

The 10-metre Dorset League competition runs twice annually (summer league and winter league) and consists of 8 rounds, shooting 2 rounds of 6 cards, with 5 shots per card, each month, with a month’s break between seasons.

Similarly to the internal competition, competitors can collect and shoot their cards during any session of their choosing, provided another club member signs as witness of the cards being shot in accordance with the rules.

The Dorset League runs on a system of divisions, splitting competitors up based on their recorded or registered average score for a 30-shot series. The winner of each division is awarded a medal and promoted to a higher division (depending on your result, you may end up rising more than 1 division between 1 season and the next). Of course, every competitor should aspire to end up in Division 1, for those with the highest average score, but this competition runs nationally, with competitors from clubs all over the country, so you are competing against shooters of a similar skill level and can pride yourself on a victory simply by shooting well at your own level.
